You're a Listener and you don't get it...

Ever hear of a Blind Box Ad? That's when a radio station is looking for air talent and doesn't want anyone to know who or where they are. So, they place a blind box ad in a trade magazine so no one at the station gets wind of it and jumps ship before the station can fire them. Below you will see an example of such an ad and also what it really means....

PM Drive Noon to 7pm: We're looking for PM Drive talent for our upcoming ALL NEW format because we are currently in the toilet ratings wise and can't afford the guys we have now. Winter here lasts nine months. We just put in new ceiling tiles in the studios and fixed the leak in the roof. We use multiple iPods for our music storage system. The right candidate must know how to hit the play button and will be expected to arrive two hours before their shift to do production. Lots of production. You must be able to work the phones at the front desk while the receptionist is on lunch break from Noon to one. Must be able to identify with our target audience so you will know when we are being scammed by contest pigs. We ROCK but also do a large amount of public service programming which you will be responsible for! Some production required on weekends. Benefits include free T-shirts and CDs and $30K for anyone who is willing to work for us. This is your nightmare job! Send resume to Radio & Ratings, Box 923, Los Angeles, CA.
